I have a 2000 honda accord sedan. 2.2L VTEC I4. I runs great, gets good fuel mileage and no complaints, but it us just slow off the line. I lost a race to my friends 95' jeep grand Cherokee straight 6 (stock). So I'm kind of embarrassed. what can I do to my Honda make it have better acceleration? thanks for any answers!

Easy!!!! Switch over to ELF oil "designed for Asian cars." or Mobil One that meets JASO spec's, GL-4 rating, "0W" oil. This reduces friction and cleans instead of making sludge. Install a set of Denso Iridium or Denso Twin Tip spark plugs. You will gain more power and fuel mileage. Make sure that your throttle body and IAC valve are IMMACULATELY clean!!!

Isn't it amazing how many people on this section of Yahoo Answers that have bought little 4 banger economy cars and are not satisfied with their performance.

They don't realize that an internal combustion must burn fuel to make power. The more power the engine makes, the more fuel is required. So if you start souping up these little 4 bangers you lose your fuel economy.

Also, when you start souping up these little 4 bangers you risk losing your reliability.

If you want better performance, sell your little 4 banger economy car. Use the money from the sale to buy something with a larger engine that makes more power. You will have a vehicle that will perform better along with reliability and take less of a hit on fuel economy.

In the long run this will give you the best bang for the buck.
