i want a rockford fosgate sound system put in my car; what do i do?

i have a pretty sh*tty sound system in my car, and my friend has a new mitsubishi eclipse and her sound system is really good. although i know i won't have a system exactly like hers, i know that her system is made by rockford fosgate. what steps do i take to getting a system like this put in? i'm foreign to the whole amp-woofer-etc language but if anyone could help me out on what i need to get, where, etc please help me out. i have approx. $500 to spend
