Hey does anyone know where to start on this . Im 18 in january and saving to buy a motorcycle. Where do i need to start with this all?

search used bikes on craig's list or ebay. My cousin just got one and he got it off craig's list for $600 :)

I'm trying to figure out where you need help. In choosing a bike? The Kawasaki Ninja 250 is said to be one of the best "training" bikes, but I also hear it's a toy. The one I'm getting is the Suzuki Sv650SF, 650 cc, and yet good enough for a beginner.

A good place to start is with basic riders class. This will be the best 20 hours spent in riding and will prepare you for the road. I agree with buy a used cycle and don't get an RR rocket to start. Im a fan of the Sv 650 and frankly it is more than most new riders should handle. It costs like heck to trade in and out of bikes so starting small, going medium and ending large isn't practicle anymore. Still the idea is to live through the cycling experiance.
If you finance, be sure to find out how much full coverage insurance is before you buy. If you pay cash you will save a bundle of money on mandatory liability ins. Have fun!

craigslist.com, select your area... you want a USED bike... no matter what unless you have thousands to just throw away, which you don't since you said you're saving...

any used bike, just make sure they can show you maintence records (if they can't it's becuause they didn't keep it up to date.... anyone at all who cares about their bike would have these records, if they didn't care about the bike, they most likely ran it into the ground, remember, maitence is always cheaper then repairs, there's literally no reason not to)

if you get a popular bike, like a ninja 250, when you're ready (and you need to be ready before going bigger) you can sell it for nearly every penny you bought it for.... again, no excuse not to, other then being hardheaded....

you buy a new bike, the second you ride it, the price drops significantly, you lose ALOT of the value.... [generally] buy a 600cc and wreck it, you just lost everything unless you were lucky enough to walk away with just road rash.
