I want a history log of my sons G1. Please help.

I recently purchased my son a G1 for his birthday, he's been exhibiting some strange behavior lately and I want to just keep sort of tabs on him. I have always been a very laid back parent, who just keeps an eye out and as a minor he has always had a knack for the lesser side of the law.

Is there an app that logs his history, including txts, calls, and downloads?

I am very familiar with the iPhone tech, as I am left the AT&T family for the T-Mobile family-and there were a plethora of apps that logged txts that would automatically be sent to me.

Is there anyway I can get a log like that?

I am also curious if there is a more accurate GPS tracking system than PinTail, as it is very vague and nothing near as comprehensive as iLocalis for the iPhone.

well as for any apps that do that, none that ive heard of so far...but i recall my friend saying that you can check phone records and txt records, at least to what numbers from the t-mobile.com website...hope that gives you some direction

Mobile Defense....it's supposed to be for finding a lost or stolen phone, and remains relatively hidden within the phone....info is accessed via web. Also, if you are the primary acct holder, you can check all phone records on mytmobile. Good Luck.

just for the record, nobody needs to post in this thread if they don't happen to agree with what the OP is doing. this isn't the place for your opinions on parenting. thanks.

There are a few apps around that might do what you're asking. Some more information might help though - I mean you reference downloads, texts and calls. Texts and calls he would have been doing exactly the same on his previous phone, and all apps are vetted by Google to be "safe". So it's not like his new phone is letting him do much more than he wasn't already doing.

Can I ask what exactly you're worried about him doing? If we knew this we might be able to help some more.

check the market for a gps tracker and call tmobile and ask to speak to a manager and have them email you his call log and text messages every month....you have nothing to admit to the young dumb kids in this forum...yes I'm speaking of the smart ass comment left by you know who .....just a little advice that crap is the devil...has two of my friends stuck between reality and there own little drug world..it doesn't matter how much you monitor them or think you know what there doing all the time....once that monkey latches onto ur back its hard to get off ,especially if he still sees the same ppl on a weekly basis or can have access to the ppl not just the drug....get him out of that environment....its the only way boss....I wish your son the best

There are some other issues here though. What's to stop him uninstalling these apps? Something has to be put in place to prevent that. If you take his phone off him he'll just use another one which you'll have less control over.

Cheap skate should bought him an N1, haha jk I was thrilled when i got my G1 as a bday present last year ...Wave-secure has an sms backup/export featre and calls, basically all data, and you could just tell him its incase it gets lost..best of luck to you

unfortunately, no app for this situation. there are gps tracking apps, blah blah blah... of course the best course of action would be an open channel of communication between your son, you, and whoever else is in the fam. and a whole lot of love, caring, and patience. good luck, wrestling with the devil is never easy.

If I found some heroine in my bathroom I think I'd be thrilled, assuming he wasn't doing anything ungentlemanly with her.

If I found heroin, on the other hand....

You best bet i think is calling TMO like everyones been saying. They are more than happy to work with parents to keep tabs on their kids usage etc. Their records will give u everything u need, and its all accessable form their website as well.

I think Wavesecure and Mobile Defense would be the best things. As stated, Wavesecure lets you backup sms, but I'm not sure if you can do that online or if it has to be via the phone, and Mobile Defense becomes completely hidden once installed, and if you know a little bit about rooting, you can install both as system apps that are not removable. Found a website, "treasuremytext", here's the url: http://www.treasuremytext.com/p/apps It looks like it forwards sms messages to the web for a small fee. With a bit of studying you can figure out how to change the name of the app and the icon to something he wouldn't notice. You can get more info on that at XDA. I've done zero research on treasuremytext, not sure how well it works, but thought you'd like to check it out.
