Trusting in God

You hear this occasionally with really mature chrisitans at church: that your connection to God is a relationship and not a religion...
And I wandered if the mistake that Adam and even had made in the garden of eden (as opposed to the garden of gethsame) is choosing to make their connection to God a religion rather than a relationship....
When adam and eve were first created they were created without religion, without law, without a bible and yet they felt no shame (there was nothing wrong with their hearts even though they had no law)
But when they choose to exercise the power to judge others and hence become religious... they became aware of good and evil, hence the introduction of law...
I also thought thta the beast in revelations could be religion too... but no religion as in christianity or buddhism religion as we know it... I believe that in a different context, almost everyone on this earth could be classified as a religious person....
My father is an atheist and he worships money, power and social status and treats me like garbage because I don't have one... so even though he doesn't have a religion, I would say that he has one because he is a worshipper of power... His God is money and he judges everybody according to the law of wealth.
My cousin is also a worshipper of money, beauty and charm and she religiously practices her faith, judging and excluding girls that are ugly... so she is religious even though she doesn't believe in God.
In essence religion has three compontents
1. Socialization
2. Laws that are based on or result in cause and effect
3. God or any other entity (money, beauty, charm) that is worshipped and esteemed
