since most bikes from walmart are crap, they can go over anything. but a quality road bike like trek is made for the road. they can occasionally go over small dirt paths, but are made for the road.
...road bike hold up on them? Im wanting to get a trek 1.1 road bike. When I was younger I use to ride a walmart road bike all the time on the dirt roads where I live. Will a trek 1.1 road bike hold up to the dirt roads?
I would stop looking at a Walmart bike now.
If you want a road bike to ride on the road look at a cyclocross bike its pretty much a road bike but beefed up some. Or just get a touring bike or a mtb with slick tires
