textbook and had the same? credit hours. The only problem was that the university wouldn't give me credit for the same course I took at the community college. My classmate says that the university made me take the course over again because they were greedy for the money. I got B's in the courses at the community college. What was the difference between the courses?
DGD,

The school was Ohio State University. It was one of the most accredited school in the country. So, was the Community College.

It's possible it is greed, but decisions like that are usually made by the course department. Many departments want to make sure that the class you take will be taught as they want it to be taught.

If you went to an accredited community college and a state university (in the same state) the credits should have transferred. If you transferred to a private university, they probably just wanted you to repeat the course there (money).
Of course, some schools have a maximum number of credits that can transfer, were you over the maximum?

But was it at the same level. I took some classes at a community college that were in the 100 and 200 level. They would not transfer because the University has the same classes at a 300 or 400 level. So you cannot transfer from a lower level to a higher level class. This is a really common problem when transferring from a community college. Just because you use the same book does not mean that the material is the same. Look at the course catalogs for both schools and compare the content. At the University where I am now, you can tell them that you feel you took it and they will look over it with you and discuss it with the teacher. So you can end up getting the credit after all!
