I think Simspons will end with the 25th season

25 seasons is a good number for the show to go out on. With the 22nd season starting this year, I give the show about 3 seasons more afterward.

I really don't see Simpsons lasting for 30 years, or worse...beyond that.

Hopefully the 25th anniversary of Simpsons will go out with a bang.
 
The Simpsons series will end one day, but even afterwards, the franchise will live on in the form of spinoffs, knockoffs and the like. The Simpsons will be around for a long time.
 
Nah... I think it'll make to about 75 or 76.

I wouldn't put it past them to drag it out to 100 full seasons. We could very well have new Simpsons episodes in 2089. Just imagine the sweet syndication deal they should have by then.
 
They did that already. It was called The Simpsons Movie.

Anyways, who really cares at this point? The show will end when it ends, and when it does, the characters and franchise will still be around. And I don't see the show lasting past the 30th season all that far-fetched; they've already done the unthinkable and made it to the 22nd season, what's stopping them from going past 30?
 
Just like The Flintstones, The Jetsons and Scooby-Doo, right?

The Simpsons will end when it ends, and when someone feels the need or desire to relaunch or reboot it, then they will. The Simpsons has become a cultural icon now, the show and the characters will never permanently go away, not even after the show ends.
 
How do you know? And frankly, what makes you think the show could end at 25? The show's at that point where any assumption about its finality carry no weight.
 
Did the Flintstones and Jetsons ever actually get a real reboot after they ended? Not really.

They got a couple of movies and specials, and with the exception of, "Flintstone kids," they never really made a new full series afterward.

Scooby Doo is an exception as there was always a new series for that every couple of years.
 
Define "real reboot" and "full series", because last time I checked, all the Flintstones series made after the original are precisely that, regardless of quality.
 
Movies and specials released after the series ended is not a reboot.

A Pebbles/Bam Bam spinoff as they were older is not a reboot.

"Flintstone Kids," or whatever that show was called, was the closest thing to a reboot, but not quite. It was the only one that was a full new, "Flintstones series," though.
 
Uh, yeah they were. They were projects that were intended to give new life to a franchise that hadn't seen any in years, therefore they were reboots of The Flinstones. And the same thing will likely happen to The Simpsons, when the show finally manages to go off the air.

Say, haven't we already argued about this before? Because it sure seems like we have.
 
The Flinstones ran for like six years. People that were kids when the Simpsons started now have kids of their own. It's a little different. And, anyway, there were several Flinstones Shows that attempted to revive the characters, the Flintstone Comedy Hour, for instance, I think that's the one where Fred and Barney become cops. Or the New Fred and Barney Show.
 
The Flintstone Comedy *Show* (not Hour, that was its early 70s spinoff) was an early 80s show that had Fred and Barney (plus the Shmoo from "Lil Abner") as cops in one supporting segment.

The New Fred and Barney Show, from the late 70s, was an attempt to revive some of the spirit of the original series---Fred, Barney, Betty and Wilma were the central characters, and Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm were toddlers again.

Re: the Simpsons: As others said, it'll end when Fox deems it no longer profitable as a regular series (but it'll live on in revivals/movies/etc), which given Fox clearly values quantity over quality far as Homer and co. are concerned, probably won't be for a long time.

Given I've stopped watching it 10 years ago, for *me* it's already "dead", so they can do whatever they want anyway... ;-)

There shall be NO end to the Simpsons whatsoever!!!
It's still the best on non-cable TV!!!
