i just bought a Corsair 16 GB flash/drive and i have Mcafee and it says Autorun(from the drive when i plugged it in) has a virus, could it have had one when i got it??? it was new in package,

The chance of you receiving a virus from a brand new product is about a 20% chance. I'd just disregard it and run a virus scan after you do whatever you need to do. But it isn't necessarily impossible.

Usage is very important. if you have a USB flash.

Note: Any internet related PC's is associated with virus, high or low
depend on the user.

Believe it now!!!.

If you just took it out of the package, it may have software such as Ceedo on it. Some antivirus programs can falsely identify some programs as trojans or rootkits.

Hello Amoorah,

I believe the 20% chance is really high and just a random number picked. The chances of you catching a virus is only a number if someone used the product before. The chances are *near* zero if it has never been used before. If the company you bought it from resealed it after someone used it and returned it, then you have an issue. But sometimes anti virus software will detect things that may not be a virus.

Try typing in your model number of the Corsair drive and type in mcafee and see what your turn up. If there are others that have reported it, then I think you should be fine. If not, return it and get another one.

Google Search for: Corsair 16 GB model number + mcafee

Just like typed but replacing Model Number for your model number and leave the + sign.

Good Luck!
