I think my gold fish might be sick?

I have had two Gold Fish over 2 years now, one is orange all over and one is orange with a lovely white tail and fins. The completely orange one used to be the hardest to catch when i was cleaning the tank because it was so fast but lately i've noticed its slowed down, it still swims but mainly stays to the bottom even at feeding time.
Last night it looked like it was struggling to swim to the top to get food, but it manged to get up there a few times then went back to laying on the bottom.
I just removed them from the tank and put them in their large bowl so i can clean the tank as the water was going a tad cloudy, i had a good look at the little orange one its smaller than the other one is has grown quite a bit since i have had it the other one also looks kind of dull in colour even though i make saw they're in a bright sunny room.
Do you think this gold fish is really sick or just slowed down over 2 years?

A two year old goldfish is not old. They can live over 25 years.

Odds are your fish was suffering from poor water quality. You should be performing weekly partial water changes of about 25% weekly and vacuuming the gravel. You should not remove the fish from the tank to clean it.
