I think my fish might have tail rot?

I've only just noticed that on half of my 6 fish, they have tail rot. They don't have any rot on their fins yet, but I'm pretty sure it might be due to fin nipping that might have caused this. I have treated my tank with aquarium salt as well as API's melafix. I've never had fin or tail rot before, and I'm not even entirely sure it is that, as I have 2 main fish that sort of bully 2 of the other fish and neither of those fish being bullied have the tail rot, it's actually one of the bullies that has it, and 2 of my other fish that never get bullied. Quite confusing, but yeah! Any thoughts?

Can i refer you to part of a problem and what I did about it....in case its fin/tail rot:
I noticed that my neon tetras fins were looking ragged, one or two areas looked white and puffy and one particularly sick fish had a white puffy growth by the side of his mouth. The tank has been established a year has regular water changes and I do not over stock or over-feed. However I went away for a week and after conducting some tank maintenance left instructions on feeding. I can only assume that the fish were maybe overfed. I straight away changed 30% of the water (and vacced the gravel) and added a little salt and some stress coat and fish tonic. I then the next day purchased some fin rot and fungus control. Reading that this may not be suitable for all my fish I conducted a further 30% water change and treated the tank with about half the dose it stated. I removed the tetras to a separate "hospital" tank and have treated them with the medication. I also avoided a feed for a couple of days and then introduced small feeds at regular intervals. Whilst the other fish- Chinese Algae Eaters and Plecostomus and a couple of white cloud minnows have shown no signs of ill health in fact they seem to be thriving with the use of the fish tonic i bought.

If it is nipping have your fish got plenty of hiding places and enough room?
