he has run alot of tests on me to find out why i cant ovulate, and yet, all he has proscribed to me is estrogen and prevera. i know my body. i dont think it has responded. he has never mentioned clomid, he has only said he has done what he can, and will refer me to a reproductive endocrinologist. .... which is 5 hours away!!!!!!!!!! can i just bring him info on clomid and say" is this right for me" i dont want to offend him. hes not the nicest of drs.

It's scary when people start thinking they have more medical knowledge than their doctors. If that's the case, why are you even seeing that doctor at all?

Trust me, he knows about clomid. No need to bring in material on it. Maybe he thinks it won't help you. Don't forget OB/GYN's can only go so far with trying to help women get pregnant. Clomid is the last step for many of them if not all. If you need more aggressive treatment they usually send you to an RE. Listen to your doctor. He knows best!! P.S. Clomid didn't work for me.

In your situation I would most definitely find a different doctor.

There should be no need to travel 5 hours to get a diagnosis that you should be able to get from a local doctor. If the second doctor refers you to a specialist as well then you should go, but I would need a second opinion before I travel all that way.

good luck! xx

It never hurts to ask why he hasn't considered this option. I think too many people are afraid to ask their doctors questions and the reality is you are paying his salary, so you should be able to get answers to any and all of your questions. I'm a real supporter of patients being their own advocate to receive the best possible care. Best of luck to you!

if u think something will work for you ask him.
without you coming for a visit there, hes maken no money. so while your there , ask everything you want to ask! dr. can be so dumb somtimes! ** good luck hun.

You know your body better than anyone, so bring it to his attention. If he's a d*ck about it, find a different doc. Had it not been for my begging to get a certain blood test done, I wouldn't have been diagnosed w/ lymes disease. B/c of my insistence, I was able to be treated early and have been able to maintain my disease. Just b/c he has a fancy degree doesn't mean he's an expert and sometimes they don't think of things until someone brings an idea to them and lays it on the table. Then they have that lightbulb moment where it clicks and he says, "A-ha! That makes sense! Let's try that." Of course, b/c of their extensive medical training, they hate being proven wrong, so be prepared for the impending arrogance. If your treatment isn't working, then stop it and start over w/ a clean slate.

YOU are the patient. Why would you worry about offending the doctor? If you have a reason to believe a medication may work for you, ask!

I suspect he hasn't discussed it with you as an option because it's NOT right for you.

they will not do clomid until you talk to the specialist so i would just wait and talk to the specialist and then after all the tests are done you can discuss clomid, all doctors know about clomid, what he is doing is the correct protocol , you have to try something before you go to the extreme for fertility pills it sounds like you are just to anxious to get pregnant and if there is another reason why you are not ovulating colomid is not going to work for you so just wait and see what happens
