I think I'm skippping the N95......

I'm with Blue13x on this one as i have TomTom 6 and a Holox GPS and much prefer the N93 form factor and size especially the keypad. I am even able to achieve reasonable speed of Data entry in Laptop Mode which is how it is 90% of the time, no upgrade for not this one anyway.

It all goes with what kind of phone one has & the needs of the individual...

I use my N73 as a primary device for all purposes. I use it as a GPS device(with tomtom) with holux GPS receiver, as a camera & for taking video clips. Watch videos using smartmovie & music player for casual listening. And ofcourse browse the internet a lot using GPRS. Pretty much all the applications/features of N73. The only time I don't use N73 is for serious listening to Music like when I am in the airplane which I do every other week. I use my N91 at that time.

Like Rcadden said... its like wasting a LOT of money to get rid of N73 to get a N95 at this time.... hence the skip for me.
 
It depends on carrier, but you are right. I will say, though, that given the choice between 3G and S60, I'll choose s60 any day... and if T-Mo deploys 3G in the way that has been speculated (unique even from Cingular's deployment), I'm sure that it'll be a while before we see 3G S60 phones that work for T-Mo (and I'll be damned if I'm ever going near the orange splat again!).

There are plenty of concerns I have when it comes to the N95. One thing's for sure, I am NOT going to buy it day 1. I will wait until it levels off reasonably like the N73 did. I bought one for around $500 and they're still right around that price now, minus maybe $20-40.

I would really like to see how the GPS is implemented. It's starting to look more and more like a glorified GoogleMaps, and if that be the case, I can just stick with EDGE for my directional needs. If the GPS is as slow as EDGE, then it doesn't matter either. Also, if what they say is true, and I have to PAY for the step-by-step directions, then I may not be interested.

The camera only kinda influences me. If they can produce pictures at N73 quality, I'll be happy. I probably wouldn't want to take pictures any larger than 3.2mp anyway, because they take forever to send when you're not at a WLAN access point.

Lastly, battery life. If this device doesn't survive normal to heavy usage, then it'll just be another N80.

Those concerns aside, I really like the form factor, the huge screen (despite the resolution), getting WLAN back, the keypad (ANYTHING but the N73's!!!), the 3.5mm audio jack, the larger internal memory (though not much for anybody looking for hard drive-like space), TV-out, FP1 (even if it is the first device with it), and the 5mp camera is just a bonus if it works well.

All that said, I'll probably set my limit at $7-800 for it.

I think my next phone is going to be a US 3G phone as well. I'm particularly looking forward to a 3g phone with the e61 form factor now. And with t-mo looking at deploying 3g soon, i'll probably hold out till then.
 
Personally I don't really like the N93 form factor it is too bulky and flips are not my kind of thing. I only deal with it because there is no other phone with its capabilities in the world.

If I could get a candybar or slider version of the N93 I would in a heartbeat.
 
when the specs were released and the rumored 1900mhz umts was gone so were my n95 dreams.
even heavily considering "upgrading" to the N75 when it comes out for some 3G speed.
 
Just bought an N80ie so I think I'm in the 'wait' or 'pass' category for now!...of course if the forum is flooded with insane reviews and as Jonny said, the initial crzy pricing drops I might be interested. However, after playing around with an N80 today i was blown away by the screen and the size of it. It's tiny yet has a great keypad. I think I'm going to stick with it and my 770 for some time. Might have to wait for the predecessor to the E61 as I'm sure it's going to have comparable frills to the N95. Probably not the 30fps but at least 15 and a 3.2. Fell in love with the qwerty and it's going to be tough to give up as I've got it for sale, but the Nokia BT keyboard is beginning to get dust on it and I need to justify the purchase
 
That's a main reason. I wasn't going to cave for the N80, but I did, and then traded up to the N73. I'll keep this until there's something similar with US 3G. I have a bluetooth GPS device, so built-in doesn't thrill me. And personally, for the kinds of pics I take and how I use them, there's not a ton of difference in 3mp and 5mp. Also, wifi doesn't have alot of use for me, at least not in the way it's implemented right now.

In regards to 3G s60 phones for T-mobile, I think they'll be on the launch platter. Why? Cause Nokia's supplying them with most of the back-end stuff, routers and whatever else. So they have a vested interest in making sure people use it, so that T-mobile uses more. I think someone else provided Cingular's.
 
After watching the GPS video and the US 3g indications from the n-series website (it does have it, doesn't it?), i'm getting really tempted to buy it. But I too wont buy it day 1. I'll wait for a few days (or mebbe months ) till the bugs are fixed and most importantly, prices have stabilized.

However, if nokia does announce the E61i/62i with US 3g/wi-fi/GPS, its bye bye to the N95.
 
not really a choice between 3G and S60 (thinking about picking up the N75 S60v3) but with how much I use my phone for data and how infrequently there's a wifi hotspot around losing a megapixel on the camera is worth it to me for the increased speeds. FP1 and HSDPA would be nice, but I'd be happy with regular 3G. It would just be nice if NA and EU phones used the same bands, 3 different versions of the same 3G phone could get confusing unless world phones turn into GSM (850,900,1800,1900) WCDMA (850/1900,1900/2100,1700/2100)
 
Very interesting thread with great points.

I've been surviving on the SE W810 for a few months now, and I love how it can handle its simplicity very efficiently along with music playback through analog headset.

I'm going back to the smartphone land but have many mixed feelings about the latest editions of S60 3rd Edition. 3G in 850/1900Mhz bands is not a concern for me, not at the HUGE EXTORTION pricing that Rogers Wireless employs for NON-Employees. Thus WiFi 802.11b/g will be more beneficial for me in Canada. Furthermore we dont have true unlimited 3G at ANY pricing model let alone decent pricing; and I doubt it'll happen for a while (Rogers is content with data usuage percentages of 7% up from 5% 2 yrs ago).

N75 is an incredibly appealing design. It grew on me very quickly; but no AutoFocus!
E61 and its rumored successor, ok design but resolution on such a big screen will eliminate video streaming/playback for me. Design of the E61 will be weird to carry in jeans front pocket so the perfect case I'd have to hunt for as well.

I'm starting to look across the board if you will toward MS Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone edition devices like the HTC S60 & its successor the Cavelier along with the Samsung SGH-i600. Both have WiFi built in along with 3G (HTC S620 no 3G of course).

Man if ONLY the N75 had WiFi! Great looking that N75 is, is it not?!
 
for some reason i dont really care bout us 3g even though iam on cingular...what i care about is slider, wifi, gaming(i know were to get s60 games for free), and 850...ill be happy, the gps and the camera is just a plus (trust me i think there only a plus, i like the camera on my v220). battery life doesnt really matter, cuse i have a habit of pluging in my phone before i sleep anyways. plus if i go to a place were i wont beable to plug in my phone for a long time (camping), ill use my rc car battery, its not that hard to make a tamiya plug to a nokia plug, that means ill beable to recharge the cell phone at least 4 times fully (its a team orion lipo 4800mAh battery, and it only waigh 258g), over all this phone will be perfect. for me that is.
 
I think Cingular's was provided by Alcatel, though I could be wrong.

At any rate, the only reason I'm skeptical about seeing 3G S60 phones on deck for T-Mo is that they've ALWAYS lagged in the phone department behind everyone else. Now, for the most part I could care less, since that lag translates into lower costs for me as a consumer, and I always buy phones unlocked anyway. But when they deploy 3G, it becomes a whole new ball game in some ways. I personally think, as much as I hate to say it, that regardless of the back end infrastructure being provided by Nokia, we will see a Winblows Mobile Smartphone with 3G well before we'll see an S60 T-Mo phone.

3G really sucks, in a lot of ways. It's a necessity for mobile data for T-Mo to compete, but because there will be not 1, not 2, but about 8 different worldwide combinations of 'standards' and frequencies, fragmentation is just getting worse, not better.

Consider:
WCDMA/HSDPA: 850/1900 (Cingular), 1700/2100 (Europe),
EV-Do: All the different Rev's, not to mention competing U.S. and Korean implementations
Wi-Bro: now being rolled out in Korea and a couple other places (China I think)?

And those are just the top three off the top of my head, there are a few more, not to mention Wi-Max which is gaining ground.

Anyway, enough ranting from me. We all may end up owning phones that have about 19 different frequencies and 5 different technologies in them, but whatever lol.
