Oh, boo hoo, my family doesn't understand me, no body likes me think I'll eat some worms.
If you really are depressed. Go to your regular family doctor. Forget shrinks, get the good meds. They really work.
If you aren't depressed, then to be happy there is a secret. Are you ready? To be happy, you just have to do it. That's right, smile, find something every day that makes you happy. Reading, music, sunset, sunrise, The Daily Show. Whatever. I figured out that to be happy all you have to do is be satisfied with what you have and who you are.
I am 50ish. I have never stopped learning and I have never met a stranger (ok, some are stranger than others, but not a stranger to me). I have many interests, but I really like learning something new every day. Doesn't matter what it is. I love reading and movies. I get great joy from my babies, Xena & Idjot, my dog and cat.
Happiness isn't about how much money is in your pocket, or what you have. It's a state of mind. I like who I am and there isn't a thing I need. I'm not rich, and I actually have some medical problems. But I don't let them get me down. They aren't anything that I can't overcome or that can't be fixed.
Oh, and your family. I hated mine at your age too. Now, my Father is dead and I miss him very much. My Mom is one of my best friends, she is in her 80's. My brother is still a dick, but I wouldn't trade him for another. He is a great source of amusement to the entire family.
So, if you are depressed, skip the shrink and go for the family doctor and the good meds. If not, stop whining about how you have wasted so much of your life. You have barely started.
Relax and enjoy being young, it doesn't last nearly long enough.
