I think I screwed up this car! HELP!?

Hey guys. My boyfriend has a 98 Audi 1.8T. He always talked about his k04 and chip and told me he wanted it to get more performance out of it. So when my boyfriend left to visit his sister earlier this week, my friend convinced me to try and surprise him by fixing it up! She asked her boyfriend how to get more performance out of this specific k04 and chip and he said that we needed to "port and polish the intake and exhaust.” She worked in her dads shop for a summer so she knows a few things about fixing cars so we looked online and found out to find out how to do it ourselves. We need an abrasive material so we used sandblasting sand and hooked it up to the intake and started the car. I had to hold the gas so it would run. My friend wanted to let the engine suck the sand through the intake so it would port it out then push it out the exhaust so it would port the exhaust manifold. I was worried it might cause problems but she figured it would be OK as long as we didn’t make boost and get it sucked in the turbo. After running the car and letting it suck in the sand we got about halfway through a 25 pound bag and the check engine light was on and the engine was buckling and kicking and sounding really weird. We stopped and hooked the car back up normal and took away the sand supply. We tried to start it again and it was really hard. Once started it couldn’t idle and kept making noises. We took it out and drove it and it started to make scrapping and knocking noises. HELP! Can anyone tell me what to do? My friend thinks we should try to flush out the sand with water but I don’t think that will work. He’s coming back on Sunday and he loves this car so much so I hope I didn’t screw it up :(

Oh boy! No wonder your asking for help, Do Not Put Water into the engine. You have already destroyed the engine the only way to fix this now is to completely strip the engine and check for scoring of the bores. Basically that sand will be everywhere. I feel really sorry for you cos the easiest answer is to fit a new engine. Ouch. Good luck when you explain it to your boyfriend, you never know it might be a story you tell your grandkids.

You and your boyfriend need to see a shrink......then see a good mechanic.....In case you or your boyfriend did not know that internal cumbustion engines run on fuel not sand and sand as you well know is a n abrasive not a lubricant....you have knacked your engine and it will need some assistance from a mechanic...Git rid of your sand and remember oil is better than sand for your engine........
