i think i have skin cancer and so why is my doctor going to take blood to test?

she wans to test my blood - is that how they detect skin cancer????
okay thanks all fo your help...i am so worried but at least i now know why se is taking blood so thank you everyone....fingers crossed... xx
i need to add, i live in spain and the doctor hasnt even looked at my skin, (they are not like docs in the uk and normally dont bother looking too close!! ) and doesnt speak good english - this is more why i am concerned...she has sent me to have blood tests without checkng my skin but did not say why.

I don't think you can detect skin cancer by doing a simple blood test they have to do a skin biopsy to know for sure. I also know that you have to get alot of blood test done maybe they see how the red blood cells and white cells are functioning because i get blood test all the time i never really asked why, but i recommend you to ask your doctor any concerns that you have maybe in blood test doctors may see if there is something wrong. I myself will ask on monday i have to do a blood test before i get a cat scan ill let you know then.

all cancers will have an impact on your blood cells, so this is just a preliminary. if the cells look abnormal then they probably will take a biopsy.
good luck

Lisa please don't ask questions like this on here. You will not get answers that reassure you.
If you have seen your doc and she has not said immediately that you have skin cancer, then be guided by her. If you have lesions, they may only be benign cysts. This is what she is looking for.
