I think I fried my T3?!?!?!?

So I had to hard reset eariler this week. This weekend I decided to reload Graffiti 1.0 back on to my T3. I've loaded it a number of times before, and each time it works fine. I usualy load it by copying the two files you need to my SD card, and then using Filez to copy the files to device. Well this time I forgot and ended up only copying one of the required files to the SD and thus to the internal memory.

Now my palm just has the "palm powered" logo. If I hold down the power button nothing happens (ie it wont turn off). If I try to hard reset it shows the "press up to delete all data, or whatever" screen. I press up and it just goes back to the "palm powered" screen.

When it first happend I was able to unpluggle the battery and it started up again. Except after I hotsynced the problem started again. This doesn't make sense as the Graffiti 1.0 files were copied from my SD card directly, not hotsynced.

Of course now I try hard reseting again and it wont even turn on. Though I might need to try unplugging the battery again.

Does any one have any idea how I can fix this? Is there some way to reflash a T3 with out being able to get into the OS? Is there some hidden key combo that I can use that will do a "harder" reset?

Thanks,

Eric

The files made their way into the hot sync and are now stored in the backup folder on the PC....thus after a hard reset they (or one) is getting restored.

Look for the file in the backup folder on the PC - delete it then hard reset the device and hot sync to get it somewhat back to normal. I've never seen a hard reset not get a device back to somewhat normal....but you might have to pull the battery again. But if your doing that - then you may have other issues being caused because of the "open" condition of the T3.

If pulling the battery doesn't "clear" it - it's toast.

Well I've narrowed the problme to be the ribbon cable that connects the buttons/hotsync plug to the motherboard. If I leave it disconnnected everything seems to work fine. If I turn off my palm and plug it it, the palm starts, and all the buttons work. Except if I try to reset with it plugged in the backlight turns off, but you can still see the last image on the screen. Then I have the same problem where I can't get past the "palm powered" screen. After closer inspection I can see what looks to be a little black mark on one of the pins at the motherboard end of the ribon cable.

Not sure how this happend. Is there somewhere I can get a new ribbon cable?
