Conor Oberst is the finest song writer still writing today.

His lyrics are amazing and fit perfectly with each other, every line he rhymes leaves you thinking "shit, I wish I'd thought of that".

He can also convey any emotion perfectly with his music.

It's also amazing he's been releasing music since he was 13, and currently has released more CD's than years he's been born.

One fucking unique talented guy for sure.

All you have to do is look at how these comparisions between Dylan and Oberst add up to how well written 'Modern Times' was. He adRAB an apprecation that is both classless and generationless (Dylan, that is) that Oberst is too self-obsessed to get anywhere close to. The only thing that Oberst has written that comes close to anything Dylan-comparable is 'Landlock Blues,' and thats a stretch.

it's hard to say. elliot has like 1/4 the material oberst had even up till the time of his death, not counting stuff after.

elliot is a better guitarist, thats for sure. & has a better voice. but songwriter, no.
