I think all religions in the world are just myths. Please discuss on this subject.?

There are no historical facts, that's the point. Only myths. Moses was a myth, Jesus is a myth, Eden is a myth, Johna and the whale probably really happened but that is the only one that may be true. Adam had 3 wives; Lilith, No name, and Eve. God's wife is Ashera. God was the main god of a panel of 12. There is no evidence at all for Jesus but he may have been a real man, At any rate there were thousands of Jesus at the time, the name is as common as John or Mike. Snakes or donkeys do not talk. Jesus was supposed to be born in Bethlehem but he was born in Nazareth. There were not three wise men. Herod never had a census so there was never a reason for Joseph to go to Bethlehem. The doctrine of the trinity is not in the bible and was an invention to hide the fact that God constantly says "We," referring of course to the other gods. Jesus was supposed to be the Messiah of the Jewish people and they rejected him because he did not fulfill the prophecy. Christians assert that he will fulfill it upon his return. Jesus specifically claimed that the end of the world would come in the life time of his disciples. That never happened but for 2000 years the Churches message has been, "The end of times is at hand." While there have been floods int the past, Noah never happened, and why did he kill most of the animals after taking so long to save them, does the big cookout with God make and sense at all?

The bible itself is a book of mythological contradictions and lies. There is no evidence what so ever for the existence of any of the millions of Gods dead or alive on the planet today. The time for mythological religions has ended.

Discuss what? And yes, I would like to see some historical facts too...but not sure what you are talking about.

I disagree. You give a little...we give a little back.

There is a school of thought that has been gaining momentum as of late. It is the ancient aliens theory. Basically, this theory states that a lot of history's architectural mysteries and myths of the past (such as gods and angels) can be explained by earth's visitation in the past by aliens. History channel has a whole documentary series based on it. I'll admit that some parts are more believable than other but I think you should watch it and form your own opinion. Let me end by saying that I'm not trying to downplay anyone's beliefs, I'm just saying that this is a possible alternate explanation.

Of course it based on myth...if it wasnt then y wud anyone worship ...believe...or even remeber the stories in any relgions...the fact that its mythological just makes it more intresting...wud u worship jesus if he was just a regular human being...i dont think so....wud u rember a normal boring story...or a fairytale/myth...its just a way to pass down sth to generations

Religions aren't stories, they are religions.

Myths are stories. The word myth does not imply truth or fiction. Many myths are actually a combination of a little bit of both truth and fiction.

Religions often have an associated mythology, but in addition to a mythology religions have rituals, instructions, requirements for clergy and all sorts of other data that doesn't meet the definition of myth.

Using the word "myth" when you mean "fictional story" is like using the word "guess" when you mean "scientific theory," it's intellectually dishonest and putting an additional burden on those who would like to actually discuss things in rational ways on occasion.

This is because every religion is based upon an internal mythology. Religion itself is a practice or system using a mythology to further glorify it. If you want to understand this more, read Joseph Campbell's "The Power of Myth".

I can't understand why a god would allow there to be so much confusion, so many different religions. Most people probably believe in something that (if there is a god, the Christian one anyway) is going to damn them to Hell. I find it hard to believe in a higher power that would do that to people.

So I tend to agree.

?

Of course they are! If not myths in themselves they are certainly based in myth...

Personally, I think religion and myth are two different things. When I hear the word "religion" I think of overarching abstract principles, while the word myth suggests concrete stories that illustrate religious principles. For example, the story of Icarus is a myth. He flew to close to the sun and was destroyed. The story of Adam and Eve eating the apple to "become like God" is arguably a myth that illustrates the same religious principle as the story of Icarus. That is, that we are mortal creatures who are different from God and when we try to be like God we will destroy ourselves.

This is just one example. The point is that myth and religion are related, but separate concepts.

I'd be glad to DISCUSS this with you. On a count of just a simple answer which acquires no deep thought or research, isn't what you are looking for. First, to start off, I am Christian, ONLY BECAUSE I ACTUALLY SEARCHED FOR THE TRUTH and it found me. Two, most who claim they are Christians, are the same as those who are Atheist; because they do not know the truths of Christianity, which wasnt revealed until ******************** i will explain this to those who truly seek the truth<<< this is backed by scripture which I can get into later. But just to answer your question for now. Are all religions in the world are just myths? Well its easy to believe that they are, being that most are similar and being that most religions have explanations or stories that are inconceivable to a human mind that has been brainwashed by the individual's society or upbringing to think a certain way, without them being aware. Which is the work of Satan as explained in the bible. The entirety of the Bible, which is written in parables; this is a hidden meaning or message within a message (which is why most either feel that it can be contradictive, when it isn't, or those who feel they understand what a certain scripture means, but really don't). So, with that being stated. Yes, all the religions are myths, excluding christianity. But, what most believe is christianity isn't really in truth. false prophets, bible stories and their physical proof, revelation, the key to everlasting life. is all in the bible and I can surely DISCUSS this with you. But for now, comments on this post....

I had the same belief for a while. I guess it was mostly because my mom made me go to church every sunday since I was born. In high school, I started learning that there were other religions out there and I needed to explore them. Somehow, it brought me to wicca.
Maybe religions are all a figment of our imagination. Maybe it was all made as a rulebook to keep society in check. Who knows?

If you're looking for interesting religious history, I don't know of anything, but there is a cool site that lists numerous deities (gods/goddesses) from many different pantheons (religious groups).
http://www.godchecker.com/
I find this site amusing, and it has some cool stories.

I hope you find the answers you're looking for.

A myth is a story with explanatory power. A story can be a myth and still be true. People misuse the word myth when they mean misapprehension. So, yes, all religions are myths.

Look at all the man made religions claiming to be the one and only "TRUE" religion. Does that not give you clarification?? They are not from God at all but from "the other red meat", Satan himself.

Believe and trust God, but all men/women will fail you, and their mentally delusional false, man made religions --- oh! -- and the willingly duped followers.

God Bless... beware of most all religions as they are not from God.

If you posted this question is because you have doubts.. I'm a christian believer.. God gave us free will to either believe in ourselves, or believe in Him and his written word.. you will not feel God's presence if you don't believe in Him.. If you would believe only if you see Him, forget it.. there's people that even seeing Him, would take Him for granted and disrespect Him.. I respect your believes; I just gave you my opinion.. I believe there's only one God, thou, there should be only one religion.. those who believe and obey this God; so I also believe 99% of the religions are a myth..

This is the theory of ancient aliens. Basically, the theory that the secret history of the building, the myth of the past (such as God and angels) can explain what the aliens in the past visited Earth. History Channel has a whole series of documentaries based on it...
