is a "harm to themselves or others"? The hospital told me that under Michigan law I must be committed to the behavioral unit of the hospital, for 7-10 days or until stabilized at their discretion if earlier. I am just wondering they said I had to be involuentarily commited to a mental hospital about two years ago after checking in for a panic attack (that was the first one I had and I didn't know thats what it was I thought it was something serious. Well I never said anything about being "suicidal" and it was only an hour or two into staying there that they reported I had said some things that I never said such as hearing voices and wanting to kill myself, they showed me the paper, I told them I had never said that and they didn't believe me this was discrimination based on a belief system I had that they didn't like I think, they basically cuffed me to the bed and said I had no longer any legal right to leave the hospital (luckily the whole thing was covered under my insurance) I am not the only patient they did stuff like this with, there were several people who I talked to that claimed the same kind of thing happened to them the hospital I am referring to is Providence Hospital in Southfield Mi
Anyways I was committed for a week.
