So about a week ago i started a lawn mowing business by making about 40 flyers and going and putting them in peoples mail boxes. so far i havent got any calls and it was a good flyer.

Start by selling your services to people you know. Your neighbors. Friends of your parents. Then they'll tell their friends, etc. Word of mouth is WAY better than flyers.

So...what's your question? Trying to figure out why people didn't go thru all of their junk mail and find yours? Here's the deal: you are soliciting something from someone unknown; you need to now call them. Sell, always. sell. If you don't want to talk to them directly, call when you know you'll get their answering service and say something like: " I dropped a flyer in your mailbox and wanted to follow up to see if I could provide some lawn service to you; we trim, clean up excess clippings and leave your lawn pristine. If you already have a lawn service, we will provide in-between trimmings for special events and holidays". Good luck and follow-up. My company is a multi-state contractor based in the upper Ohio Valley and I started out at 12 y.o. doing lawns; frankly I miss it.

People are short money and will mow their own law. The other problem is they do not know you. Knock on the door and introduce yourself. Be a salesman and sell you and your business
