I spit on your grave... Does she get revenge? *spoiler*

I Spit On Your Grave. Last House On The Left just made me roll my eyes at its sheer crapness, with a slight sense of disappointment after being led to believe it was a "classic".

The only other film that made me angry when I watched it was Deathwish 2, quite possibly the worst mainstream film ever committed to celluloid.
 
Actually I would be quite surprised if the sequence where she gets attacked in the house is intact.

The guy beats her badly , forces himself into her face shouting for her to "suck it" and in the worst bit violently rams a bottle up inside her which results in another bone chilling scream from Buster Keatons Granddaughter
Doubt that was included.
 
Could've been all manner of outcomes. Boyfriend/relative/publisher/angry pet. There's no clue to suggest that she herself partakes in any of it. When I stopped watching she was in no state for revenge, hence the thread. (;))



You are correct, though I must've been drifting at that point because I didn't notice the cuts.
 
I like the original LHOTL, apart from the awful comedy involving the policemen. The backstory behind its conception and the endeavours entailed by such a small independent crew in actually bringing what would go on to be such a notorious film to the screen at all made for quite an interesting read, as well as the film's 'aftermath' - I like to imagine what kind of impact it must have had on a lot of people when they saw it back in the early 70s, just like other epochal 'shock' films such as Psycho before and The Exorcist after it.
 
Clearly you have issues with films that show explicit rape scenes.

I doubt you've ever seen the full version of Death Wish 2 as its never been uncut in the UK and even the US dvd is edited .
The Dutch dvd listed as "uncut" on Amazon is actually the most censored version available with more cuts than the UK and US versions put together

The original UK version cut the rape of the maid down from 7 minutes to just over 1 minute.

And the rape of Kerseys daughter was cut in half too.

C4 got into trouble around 1990 when their programme Sex and The Censors played clips of the censored sections of not only DW2 but things like New York Ripper and other banned bits

I like Death Wish 2 . It's not as accomplished as the first one but at least the Bronson character does actually get the villains which was a slight disappointment about the first one.
 
Yes, who doesn't revel in watching someone in deep distress? I know it makes me feel like a real man. Though in this case I think it more of having an issue with cheap, badly made tosh, than anything else.

The uncut version was shown by mistake on Bravo a few years ago, I don't know if they got a telling off for it though.

I'm not against explicit rape scenes, I'm against explicit rapes that use them as a set up to justify extreme violence and then fail to deliver it.

In I Spit on Your Grave, the rape scene goes on for half an hour, and the revenge goes on for about 20 minutes, none of it is shown particularly explicitly so you're left with a film that is about an explicit rape and then a couple of scenes of revenge tacked on the end as an afterthought to validate its extremes. It uses the rape to manipulate the audience's emotions to cheer on the heroine, then fails to deliver a satisfying conclusion. Basically, it's not violent enough.

Deathwish 2 is so bad because Deathwish 1 was so good. It's devoid of anything approaching artistic merit, it's technically inept, the acting is terrible, and the characterisation/plot/dialogue is so laughably shite, it could almost be a spoof of the original, but lacks the wit to send itself up.
 
That rather flawed logic would mean no viewing of Spartacus , Schindlers List and any other number of movies showing people in deep distress
 
That rather depenRAB on the levels of enjoyment you were getting from such things, and more importantly for what reason were you deriving that pleasure.

Yea i'm sure you get all pissy about horror films as well. Oh noes, they are being hunted down yo! The revenge genre is what it is, whether its exploitation flicks, daddy gets revenge over daughters death/kidnapping flicks, or whatever. Its the omg you did xyz! I'm comin for you nao!
