This was on Horror channel last night and I watched up to where the really really inbred one was supposed to kill her, but just wiped blood from her face on the knife and gets in the boat. I was rooting for her to kill them all after she ran away the first time but she went back:eek:
Anyway last I saw she was in a bit of a state on the floor of the house. I hope she killed them all.

Crikey! Glad they got their just deserts!

I can't see why they remake films like this. As soon as you modernise a '70s movie you lose what it is that people (me anyway) like about the film. Oh dear, looking at the Wiki page for the remake and the tagline is 'It's date night' I despair, I really do.

*OT: UV Have you heard anything else about Splice? Release date was last month apparently:confused:*EDIT: No it wasn't. That was theLondon Sci-fi film festival. June 2010 for USA.

I saw a June 26th release date for Britain a few weeks ago, so hopefully it's out then. Can't seem to find an official release date now except for the festivals.

I was a kid when this first hit the headlines - hard to believe it's now being shown on TV without a fuss.

Probably not the horrifically depraved VHS I saw then is it, it's a terrible B movie with atrocious acting, isn't it?

I won't watch it again in case it taints the memory of the scene where she cuts off one of their dicks.:D

That's because the UK version of the film has all the bits the film is famous for edited out for censorship reasons.

The BBFC cut the film for an 18 and the dvd is 6 minutes short so the majority of the intense rape sequence is missing

Unedited or heavily censored, it doesn't make a bit of difference.....

it's still shit.

And back in the day, some thought this was a genuine snuff movie.

It's a good film IMO, a bit tawdry plot-wise but a great piece of transgressive cinema. The film's biggest fault by far for me is the 'religious ephiphany' interlude in the middle, although it's not as unforgivable as it could have been coming admist one of the film's frequent 'silent film' sequences. Camille Keaton (Buster's grand-niece) gives a bravura performance in embodifying the extremely difficult central character.

No, the film is still cut in the UK and on quite a few occasions several Ebay sellers offering the uncut US version have had their listing removed but it's the luck of the draw.

The dvd looks like it was made on 16mm so a Bluray not really a priority

The first UK dvd even carried a notice on the back cover that "edits had been made for censorship purposes" but then carried stills from the cut bits.

I gather the killings of the men are now intact where they once were trimmed and the edits that remain all relate to the rape sequence , most significantly the sequence of her being held over the rock which has been cut and also what bits do remain have been adjusted in speed to allow for the soundtrack to continue, which is a shame as the scream she lets out as the guy violently rapes her is enough to chill the bones

That explains the odd use of slow motion at the start of both of the outdoor scenes. One the one hand I don't like someone else deciding what I can and cannot see, on the other the scenes were pretty full on anyway. I hate it when some twit decides that a scene is, say, too gory (I've seen 'Men behind the sun' don't talk to me about gore!) but when it's rape I can (sort of) understand it and protest much less. that said the editing around the cuts isn't great:/

I really can't wait to watch Splice, June 26th marked in calender:)

I remember watching this at a 15th bday sleepover!! Thought it was crap tbh, but we were all excited as it was banned in the uk and we thought we were really good for having it on dvd and could watch it.
