As a favor to my landlord I served a Summons to another tenant that my
landlord is suing. Previously the sheriff had tried, but could not
find the guy to give him the summons. So I served the summons and
filled out an affidavit and got it notarized. My landlord wants me
to go to court with him tomorrow. But I think that because I filled
out an affidavit, that I shouldn't have to go to court. that's the
whole point of an affidavit.
I'm annoyed b/c my landlord could have simply just asked someone in
the court house one of the many times he was there. Instead he's just
guessing and really just wants me there just in case. but i don't
want to sit in court for hours and hours for nothing.
What do you think?
thanks for the answers. the thing is that if it will actually HELP if i'm there, i'd be happy to go. but i don't want to go and sit there all day just to babysit my landlord and make him feel better. he has an inherent mistrust of the 'system'...that's why he ha such a sense of urgency about this. he watched another landlord in tears b/c that landlord served a summons to a tenant's wife and not the tenant. so he's scared something similar will happen to him. the whole thing is silly really.
