PLEASE HELP!

hey everyone, i'm new here, and i have some questions about the 8900.

i've been on many sites tryna find out what i gotta do and so far no one knows or no one wants to help.

i got the data cable from my service provider. it was on sale (it was still expensive) so i picked it up. a while after the transaction (it was on clearance so i couldn't return it) the bastards told me i could have just got a generic usb and plus i needed software that they don't sell. i wanted to know what kind of software i need and where i can download it? does anyone have it? also, what driver do i need and where do i get that? and after i have them what do i do wit em. i guess those are good questions right now; i think there will be plenty more after i get the ball rolling.

thanks in advance,
errol

Who do you have your service through ?

As far as a data cable, yes, there is software, Bitpic I belive it's called ? where you can download pictures off of your phone to a computer through a data cable.

The "official" word is: the only way to get pictures off a phone is to send them from the phone to an e-mail address through the 1X network

Basically, if you screw up your phone's software, it won't be covered under warranty, so use it at your own risk.

That said, there are ways to get the pictures off. Do a google search :)

i'm with bell.

so you're sayin the only way to get data on and off my phone is through e-mail. what's the point of a data cable then.

Alright. So to get data OFF your phone, you could use Bitpic or a similar program, at your own risk of course.

As for getting data ON the phone, no way to do so.

And the point of a data cable ? Backup your phone book and contact history. Basically, that's it. Bell wants you to use their 1X / EV-DO network, because it makes them money. If you do everything with a data cable, that doesn't net them a penny, and they'd never make any profit and we'd never see any improvement to the network.

Why ? Because you have to pay for services ? Does your local TV provider give you a free movie channel because you think you're paying too much already ? Does the local used car dealership fix your timing belt because it broke 2 weeks after you bought a $15 000 used car ?

Bell Mobility has the most advanced, high-speed network in Canada. How do you think they paid for it ? Sure, you pay for services with Bell, but at least Bell is moving forward with their network, unlike some other service providers.

It's a shame that people like yourself don't see the reason why services cost money. The cell phone industry is a profit industry. Just like any other business, Bell is trying to make money on it, just like Telus, Rogers, Fido, Ice, etc. And while all the other companies haven't even looked into going high-speed wireless, Bell has already invested in it, using the money that they have collected from customers like yourself.

I suppose if you don't like network upgrades, more towers, faster data speeds, it could be free. But, when the network gets overwhelmed, you can't process calls, there aren't enough towers and the data rates are super slow, who will you blame then ? :thumbdown

oh **** you too then. i've hated bell long before you were working for them. i've hated bell long before i had this problem. i've hated bell since the free six months of my original plan was over.

bell has by far the worst customer service i've ever seen from any company. their bills they sent, which i just opened 30 seconds ago and every other ****in bill i've got from them, is not worth the paper they're printed on. they say detail billing but the **** makes no sense what so ever.

in the stores, they don't give you any proper information. they mislead you when you call them also. they tell you all the good **** and leave out the important ****. they overcharge for just about everything.

why do i have to pay so much for things that i download for ringtones? why does the first ringtone cost more to download than the rest? am i warming up their network??? tell me?!?!?!

why do they still charge a system access fee when there is no such ****in thing???

why can i only use the gay ass bell phones when i could buy a much better phone for cheaper???

why did i not get a hardware upgrade after 2 ****in years of hell?

why is my plan so expensive still when they say they're giving me the best they can???

why do canadian phone providers charge so much??? i know why. cause they can and no one's doin **** about it.

and most importantly, why are you backin up bell???

everyone i know who works for bell says they cheat people the worst but make themselves look the best.

oh yeah, do you think i grive a **** if they are movin forward??? anyone could have a semi fast network if they treated their customers like ****.

Every company in Canada charges SAF fees. Bell is now INCLUDING them in their plans.

If you used Telus, why can you only use a Telus phone ? Because phones are locked to providers, that's how it works.

Hardware Upgrade is after 24 months on most plans. That's how it works. That's what was on the contact that you signed.

I don't know your plan, so I can't comment.

Obviously you do not like Canadian cell phone providers. Might I suggest moving to Mexico ?

I work with many people who work for Bell. I call our dealer support lines all day long. Yes, there are people who do not like working for Bell. However, there are also a lot of people who do like working for Bell. I take pride in working for Bell because I am able to provide excellent service to my customers. Many customers do not understand cell phones and cell phone technology, and I take pride in being able to help them understand it so that they themselves can understand what they are paying for and what they are getting.

If anyone could have a "semi-fast" network (EV-DO is 500 KBps to 700 KBps, not really "semi" in my opinion), then why is Bell the first and only ?

if i was with another company i could buy an unlocked phone or get it unlocked but you can't do that with sorry ass bell, so you're wrong. many people do this.

and i've already done 24 months and i did not get a hardware upgrade! you have to sign up for another 2 years to get only 150 towards one of their phones.

and the contract i signed was so ****ty and sloppy. i see that they have more detailed contracts now, prolly cause i *****ed them out before for misleading me the first, second, third, forth, and fifth time around.

you're finally on point with something; i don't like canadian phone providers. they're ****.

i know many people who work for bell, a bunch here in van, one dude in montreal and one dude in toronto. all of them tell me the same ****. bell is ****ty, go somewhere else. that's my advice to anyone getting a phone.

i wouldn't ming paying more for a better phone or better service. i'm payin more for ****ty phones and ****ty service. it's crazy.
