Generally, unemployment is based on the the first 4 quarters of the last 5 quarters.

So if you are applying for benefits in the 3rd quarter of 2009, the unemployment office is going to look at the income you had from July 2008 to June 2009. If you separated before then, there's no income to base the u/c on.
 
job can i file unemployment? I seperated from the military three years ago I have never filed for unemployment benefits. I have since graduated from college and can not find a job. Would I qualify for unemployment?
