and drinking alcohol. It says light, moderate and heavy drinking do different things to men and women (health wise). My question is...what do they consider light, moderate and heavy? I've read thru the articles, but they never gave any kind of guidelines..

I have a friend that doesn't drink and when a group of us go out and we each have 4 drinks, she feels it is heavy drinking..Of course, we don't, but who would after 4 drinks:)

Just wondered if you guys know what they consider light, moderate and heavy

I hope I put this into the right section

Anymore than 4 in one sitting is now classed as binge drinking by the new campaign in Oz now.

I would class a light drinker having one or two in a sitting.

Moderate up to a six pack

And a heavy being anything over that.

This was on the news here this morning and they cited one statistic that a man drinking 4 drinks a day was healthy but a woman doing the same was quadrupling her risk for heart disease. I'd classify that as moderate drinking personally, at that rate of consumption for me I would most likely achieve some degree of buzz and the way I see it you've got sober (1-2), buzzed (3-5), and drunk (6+). Personally I wouldn't drink 4 drinks a day, I'm a 1-2 guy myself. It's all relative to many factors though undoubtedly.
