I Saw a New "Case Closed" Tonight!

Though it's been quite a long while since I've seen any episodes of Case Closed (FUNimation Channel, where I first saw it, has mysteriously disppeared from my viewing area), tonight I had the opportunity to watch a new episode on a Japanese-language TV channel I picked up on my HDTV:

Conan and his Junior Detective frienRAB are riding a subway train, where they meet two guys and a girl. The one guy, in a red cap and a purple hoodie, is almost run over by the train when he tries to take a picture and falls off his ladder onto the railroad tracks. The other guy on the train is killed when he accidentally hits his head on a metal camera equipment box when the conductor slams on the brakes.

In addition, this episode had new opening and closing themes, with some live-action footage of a man singing the opening theme, as well as clips from the show, old and new.

Anyone out there know what episode this is?

Would this channel happen to be "TV Japan"? TWC here in NYC offers it, and I've seen a "Case Closed" listed in its schedule here and there, though shouldn't it be listed as "Detective Conan" if its the original Japanese version?

That's exactly what I was about to say. What you saw was Detective Conan as Case Closed applies only to the dubbed version from Funimation. Heck, the subs on the Funi DVD's refer to it as Detective Conan for the Japanese episodes.

Yes, it is TV Japan. It's supposed to be a premium foreign-language TV channel, but somehow the tuner on my HDTV picked it up.

Anyway, Case...er, I mean, Detective Conan... is part of a three-nights-a-week half-hour block called "Anime Land."

I've always been curious as to whether that channel aired anime. Guess that confirms it. Here you have to pay a pretty big fee per month to watch that channel ($10-$15.......for one channel!)

According to their schedule, they also air "Prince Mackeroo" and "Gegege no Kitaro". I assume all of these are aired unsubbed, right?
