is it me or has anyone else noticed that the story from i_robot is similar to the story of how the war started on the matrix, if you have seen the sencond renaissance parts 1&2, then u will see the similarities. really i think that if they were to do a matrix sequal, they SHOULD do this story, about the beginning, but now they cant really can they cause of this film, but still it looks like a bloody good film, shame it wasnt the matrix creators that did it first!!! :)

"I Robot" was written many, many years ago by Isaac Asimov so if anything he "inspired" the Matrix trilogy; although they seem to have ignored his very famous laws of robotics:

"One, a robot may not injure a human being, or through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm; Two, a robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law; Three, a robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws." [The Three Laws of Robotics, published 1950]

I think that a matrix prequel would be interesting, with the start of the war and the creation of the matrix as it came to be known.

TFeOnline is right, the story of the "robot that killed a human" inspired the Matrix. Th Matrix is basically a whole collection of classic, thought provoking, science-fiction novels, all roled into 1 movie. i-Robot looks like a great film though! Did any one see the teaser trailers, they were showing them yonks ago, it had a robot moving about on the screen, and then it said "ready for the future" or something like that then a website address "www.buildyourownrobot.com" confused the hell out of my frienRAB and I, we thought it was real! it really did seem real, it wasn't made to appear to b a movie trailer! But now it all makes sense!
