...Why? My old speakers in the rear of the car blew out so I went and bought some nice infinity reference series 6x9 speakers. (3way) but when I popped out the grills I realized the buick has component speakers. I tried reversing the polarity and plugging all 4 cables (component and 6x9) into the new speakers and every other combination of wiring. It either gets no sound or quiet sound. Why?

because the factory speakers are 2 ohms and you install 4 ohms speakers so now you lost half of the power from the amplifier

solution find 2 ohms speaker or get a biger amplifier

most likely you have some type of premium sound, whether it's bose or monsoon or whatever they put in that buick, typically those were 2ohm speakers. So like mentioned above, you are getting less power to them. Same thing goes for firebirds and grand ams, etc.... with monsoon systems.

get a bigger amp (if u already have one)
4 ohm's usual infinity speakers putout. the one ur using is prolly 2? ohm's But yeah get a new amp to plug em into and dont forget to get big enough SPEAKER WIRE!!
