The remote car door opener was not working, so I called the car rental company and told them that if I manually locked the doors in the car, I would not be able to open the doors. At that time, I did not know about the little key that is held in side of he remote.
Enterprise told me to go buy a battery for the remote, which I did. The battery solved the problem, but there really should not have been a problem to begin with. The car only has 2,000. The engine starts by pushing a button in the car, so the whole car really depends on that remote.
My question is, if the remote is somehow defective and is draining a battery very quickly, what happens to the car when that battery life expires? Does the car suddenly stop on the road? Or will it effect only the remote car doors and windows? I would think that if the battery stops working, the whole car will not start. There is no place in an ignition to put a key to start the car.
Am I safe for my road trip tomorrow?
