In many cases bettas prefer pellets over flakes, so definitely look into buying some pellets. I personally use Hikari betta pellets for mine. Or, if all else fails only a very sick betta would pass up frozen bloodworms.

But make sure that you have all of the following:
-About a five gallon aquarium- This ensures that the betta has swimming space and enough volume for a somewhat stable environment.
-A gentle filter- Poor water quality is all it takes to stress a fish.
-An aquarium heater- Bettas are tropical fish and do best between 77F-82F. Always use a thermometer and monitor the temperature.
