It was an outside thermometer, a cheap one at that. I touched it, and it broke, I guess due to the cold tempature. I had my hand covered with my shirt when it broke, so it didn't get on my skin. But it did get on my shirt... do I need to throw it away? Can I wash it?
I'm not sure if it had mercury in it. It was a red liquid, even when it got on my shirt.... and when I came back later (after washing up) it was still a red liquid in the thermometer.
Is it an alcohol thermometer, or mercury?
Can I wash my shirt and wear it again without it harming me, and can I wash it with something?

Help please.
EDIT:

Thank you!
And just to make it clear... I am not a preppy who worries about her clothes. I'm just a freak when it comes to things that can harm me..... >.< I'm a little odd.

But thank you for your answers, I feel a lot better. I don't know much about thermometers, which is why I asked. (I never paid any attention in science lol)

No, mercury is more grey/silver. I am not sure what the red liquid is but I know it isn't murcury.

Mercury has a metallic colour. The red liquid would be alcohol. The amount of Mercury in a thermometer wouldn't harm you regardless. If you had Mercury on your skin you can wash with soap and water and be fine. The red from the thermometer is just a dye, it may or may not come out in the wash. Hope that helps.
