Seizure Description:

The puppy is 5 weeks old he is a Siberian Husky and about 2 times a day, for approximately 1-2 minutes, the dog has minor twitches with his tongue out (i think he bites it he moves his jaw along with the twitches) and moves his legs a bit. This happens usually when he sleeps, seems almost like a reaction to a dream but does not react immediately when talked or touched. What should I do when he gets these seizures? Wake him up? Move him?

Thanks in advanced.

Sorry for bad english I speak spanish =)

This puppy is far too young to have left its birth home and should still be with its littermate. No responsible breeder would let you take a puppy under 8 weeks, apart from the fact it is illegal to sell one under 8 weeks.

WHat you are describing sounds normal kinetic movement that all puppies of this age do. However, without seeing the puppy it is impossible to say it is not something more serious.

Please return the puppy to the greeder who sold it to you until it is old enough to be sent to a new home.

If you do keep it now, at least get the puppy to a vet to check it over.

He should be seen by a vet for possible neurological problems or seizure disorder.

He should still be with mom and the litter for 4 or 5 more weeks

the pup is too young to be seprated form his mum by law the age he is allowed to be sold is between 8-12 wks old you need to stop reading our answers and speak to a vet

i agree with basset. NO pup should leave its mother till 8 weeks. in most places, this is also a LAW.

the pup needs to be seen by a vet to properly diagnose the problem. no one can examine your dog through the computer.

i am guessing that since you got the pup at 5 weeks old, it didn't come from an actual breeder?

Get to a vet and then call whoever you got this dog from and ask why in the HELL they would separate hime from his mother at FIVE WEEKS or less since you seem to have been having this problem for a bit of time now. GET YOUR STUFF, GET YOUR KEYS, GO TO THE VET. And educate yourself on dogs, buyers, breeders, and people in general should know certain common sense things about dogs. Like that fact that they shouldn't be taken from their mother too early.

First of all, at 5 weeks he should still be with his mother and litter mates. Sorry, this is way too young to have him. Is he fully weaned? Puppies move about in their sleep a lot, it's part of the growing process. And of course, they do dream. However, from your description this could be something other than normal. But without seeing what's going on it's impossible to say for sure and you must take him to your vet - at least for a check up, and let him know what you are seeing.

Also you need to at least speak to his breeder about this - and better yet, take him back!!!

ps Actually it's not necessarily breaking the law to sell a puppy at under 8 weeks, in all countries - sadly.

ok it could just be a dream that he is having and is just sleeping really hard however i would take him to the vet and get it checked

You should take him back to the breeder and let him be with mom for at least 3 more weeks. I can't believe you bought a five week old puppy. It will likely have a lifetime of health and behavior issues because it was taken from mom too early.

Take him to the vet and if he is having seizures the vet can prescribe some meds that will help.
