Though I am sure you have good intentions, I have to say that it is none of your business. It is up to your daughter to ask that question. If you are asking with regard to prior to the relationship, then it is moot and between him and your daughter. If you are asking about currently, I have to say that you still need to butt out.
If you question anything in front of your daughter, you are asking to push your daughter away. If you really love your daughter, wait until the truth comes out and be supportive of her without being hateful toward your son in law.
