...did not do a good job..? The photos he has on his website are more of a bait and switch to what he provided us. We had our wedding on a tropical island and the photographer we had did not direct us in any way to take our picture we hardly had any picture of the two of us that we can use as an album cover there were missed opportunities. Can we sue? (The guy had his business in Miami FL we have a FL contract.)

Unfortunatly, "not liking the pictures", or "bride appering fat" are not basis of breech of contract or legal action.

Unless he did not give you the pictures within the time frame specified on the contract, of if the pictures are out of focus, dark, red eye etc. there is nothing that you can do.

Good luck

I doubt you can sue unless the contract said something really weird guaranteeing a certain number of photos of the bridal couple. I'd aim for a refund and threaten to plaster his business all over the internet at places like yahoo and e-opinion. People take this stuff seriously.

I am not sure if you can sue or not; if there are specifics stated in the contract, like lets say it states that he guarntees 30 pictures of the bride and groom and you only received 20 pictures, then you most likely could sue - but if the contract didn't state specifics than it is going to be harder.
That's horrible that you didn't get the service/quality of work that you looked at in his portfolio. You may be able to report him to the better business bureau. You also need to talk with him and tell him you are unhappy - see what he is willing to do for you. If he isn't helpful then you can decide how you want to proceed from their.
Also - should you decide to take this case to court it's a good idea to go to his website right now and take some print screen shots of the site and his work. If he knows he is going to court he might take the website down or change the look of it.
I'm really sorry that you didn't get the pictures that you wanted. It's unfortunate and I think it is a horrible thing to do to someone on their wedding day knowing that it's not something you can just "do over."
However, in order to get some nice shots you could dress up again and go to a studio. This way you will have some nice shots. It's also possible that someone might be able to touch up the pictures using photoshop. A professional can work wonders with it. My friend, who is a photographer, is amazing with photoshop - so, if you wanted her contact info she might be able to help.
Good luck to you!

You can sue, but it will likely cost you more in legal expenses than you paid the photographer. Sometimes it's better to cut your losses and move on. You just got married, focus on the positives in that.

Why is everyone so quick to sue right away. Call the photographer and express your dislike of the photos in a professional manner. There isn't much you can do now since the wedding is over. I would ask for a partial refund or just don't order and pics. Your wedding is over and you should be happy for that, but I also understand your heartbreak at the photos not being the best. Just be professional.

You cannot sue unless your contract said "I will take x amount of photos in these kind of poses" Sadly anyone who has a nice camera thinks they are a photographer. I am a wedding photographer and have been doing it for five years. A lot of brides come to me wanting a do over because they wanted to save money and found some college student on craigslist who never done a wedding. Someone who has never done a wedding or never shadowed one will not know what kind of shots to get. Sadly, people think that because someone has a nice camera, the shots will be great. The camera only does so much work. It's the photographer who composes the shot and tells the camera what to do. It's the photographer who spends hours finishing up the post work.
I'm sorry it happened to you. Did you see a portfolio? How did you find this person? Did you talk or see previous clients comments?
