I just received a letter from a NY marshal regarding wage garnishment of a total of $5216.00 of which $ 3,200 is the real debt. It says that my employer has to garnish $217.00 every week to satisfy the judgement! I work part time and i only make $270.00 net a week. I also have to pay rent, utilities, and dependent care. I cant sleep! What do i do?

It sounds like you failed to go to court when you received a summons. By not going to court, the people you owe money to were able to obtain a court order for a garnishment that suited them. I've heard that when people show up in court, they are able to tell the judge about their income and can often get the judge to work out a better repayment plan. At this point I'm not sure what to do.

Go and see a lawyer. If your credit score is shot already, bankruptcy
may be a option to save yourself but it may be too late already.
Do you drive? A warrant might be out for you so don't get pulled over.
If you do and the cops see the warrant, you are going to jail and car towed.
