Today we went to the steam trains at this regional park, and then after that the carousal with my dad her "papa". we had a fun time. I always try to do fun things on the weekend bc mon-0fri i work 7 hrs all day while she's in daycare. so i always try to make the most of it.
so anyways, I was holding my daughter's hand and this girl about 25 or my age 26 was walking by with her boyfriend/husband. I walked past them politely holding my daughter's hand, and she muttered "slut". I didnt process til after what she said, but I wouldn't have said anything anyway to avoid conflict. anyways, this really surprised me and offended me, bc nothing about my appearance describes that word. I was wearing perfectly sized jeans not too tight, a long-sleeved shirt and it was hot. I didn't have a lot of makeup or unusual jewelry on, and msot of all, WAS WITH YM DAUGHTER AT A KID PLACE.
I noticed some ppl do give me funny looks when I'm out w/my daughter, and I suppose it's bc I look real young for my age. though I'll be 27 this summer, most ppl tell me that i look 15 or 16. i don't want to look this young but I really can't help it.
I am offended but I'm not bothered, just surprised. And it certainly did not ruin my day or pollute any nice memories I made with my daughter today, I know I'm above her for her to judge ppl she doesn't know in front of their (their as in the other person's) toddlers, and to use such a tasteless word (one I will teach my daughter never to use about anyone).
My question is; What if someone said this about you in a situation like that? And have you ever received any weird comments like that while out w/your child? And why do you think she'd say that about me?
Also, this offends me more so b/c I was with ym daughter. Yet I strangely think my daughter is WHY she judged me---b/c I guess I look "too young" to have a baby, and my SO was not in sight. But the flaw with thinking like her is: so just bc I dont have my SO with me, means I don't have one? And secondly, what about single moms? Are they "sluts" too? Or is just bc I look young?
I am not really bothered but just mildly confused by this comment and am trying to figure out why someone would say that about me.
