i should preface by saying i'm very new to the htc hero (fw 1.5). had this since December 2009. i'm exclusively an apple guy and i have to say that the hero has surprised me for the most part. however, it's been a struggle probably due to user errors i want to assume.

i'm now at the point to where i can not receive/send email and texts due to not having enough memory. i've downloaded linda mgr to help manage my space (including a 2gb sd card that is only 20% full) but can not seem to negotiate my way around reducing the space on my "application drive".

thank you for any help in trying to help me love this phone.

If it's low memory there are two things you can do. 1. Root your phone and use apps2sd instead of internal memory. 2. You can uninstall some of your apps to free up more memory and see if that helps the situation. If you want to try option 1, here is a link.

Start by deleting stuff you don't need that are stored on internal storage... call logs, emails, SMS message, etc.

Then clear your caches...

I'm not sure exactly where the option is in SenseUI, but on standard Android it's in Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications, and you'll see a list of all your apps and how much storage they're taking up. You can do this for all apps, but most importantly look for some of the bigger ones - anything over 1MB, like Market, Browser, etc., select the app, and click the Clear cache button. Also from the list of apps, uninstall anything you haven't used in a month, or can live without, especially the bigger ones.

Also from that same list of apps, go into the Google Mail and Google Calendar entry, and clear data. Both your GMail and Calendar will re-download everything from the Google servers, so you won't lose anything, but it'll free up some space in the process.
