...prevent this? is there any full proof ideas to stop this. My leather lounge set my husband and I back $10,000 so i don't even want to risk even 1 scratch is there a breed of cat that doesn't scratch any thing i miss my old cat that was taken in a breakup with my x that cat destroyed my last lounge i still miss him though HELP

What you should do is get a cat and have it declawed. Some people think this is mean, but as long as the cat is kept inside the house or a screened porch where it can't be attacked, by say a dog, it is fine. Also if you go to the local animal shelter they sometimes have cats that have been declawed by a former owner who couldn't keep it.

that's silly a cat will scratch NO MATTER WHAT!! just don't get a cat. It's like people who get cats, then the cat ends up at a shelter because the owner got mad that it scratches furniture. It's up to you though ...think hard about it okay....good luck!!

Hmmm...it seems like your leather lounge is extremely important to you. If you don't want even one scratch on this leather lounge, don't get a cat. Even the best trained kitty with 10 proper scratching posts can accidentally scratch the furniture.

And do not even consider declawing.

You don't need a cat, you need a goldfish.
Cats have claws, and for many good reasons too.
Declawing is not a humane option and just leads to other unwanted behaviours like biting and soiling the house.
Cats come with claws, and there is no 100% way to stop it since they do it for various reasons.

Cat would be the wrong pet for you, looking at how you prize that couch.

Get a dog or fish. No claws.

Sometimes cats just have a need to scratch, but there are these cardboard board things you set on the floor, and that should take care of it.

here's one:
