...to a distressful story ? from a young woman I knew but not all that well. I rented her a car to for 3 days . She's 8 months pregnant and had a lot of things to do and a couple of doctor visits to attend. I rent the car to her and her boyfriend (so he could drive)They dropped off on time but left the car dirty and w/o a full tank of gas didn't pay the rest of the bill for the use of the car(cash) (I gave it to her to pay on return of the car that morning) and took the car keys.I can't find ether of them and cell phone has been out of use.. I talked to the rental place their in a Realm of pissed off I have never seen., and I'm trying to get up some more money to pay for all this. But I'm most worried of is I expect to see the cops pulling into my driveway. Lord only knows what the car was used for, or the trouble I'm in for the keys ant what not. Please refrain on the mean commits I already know how dumb I was. I wanted to help.
Can I get arrested ? The car isn't damaged as far I know. I lady was speaking so fast I didn't understand her. Now I'm really afraid . As soon as I get what money I owe I'll bring it. But now I'm looking for the extra cash and on pins and needles.

probably the only thing you can do is pay for the bills. you didnt have her sign anything im assuming stating she would pay you back etc. its really sad when you try to help someone and they screw you over. ive been there. just take it as lesson learned....and i think what goes around comes around. they will get whats coming to them in another way.

Ask her to talk slower.

What "rest of bill?" The gas? Consider yourself stupid and consider yourself lucky. They could have kept it for a couple extra weeks. Don't be a sucker again, unless YOU are driving the car.

that just shows you that you can,t even trust anyone these days. oh my! ok, try this. clean up the car and see if you can dig up the money to fill it back up with gas and drop it off where you rented it from and talk to the rental place and see if they can wait a few days for the rest of the money. what you should have done was for you to rented the car for them and held on to the rest of the money. as for the keys, maybe the rental place has a extra copy. the way times are today you can,t trust too many people. that,s about all i know you might be able to do. maybe someone else on here has a better idea. good luck and watch out in the future.
