I really NEED help 3G unlimited DATA service + Skype

ok I'm lookin for a phone that can do all this:

I know I'm getting a 3g data plan service. It will be about $50 a month I believe. That's all I want from the wireless service companies, because I'm going to get skypein and skypeout from skype. That's $90 for the whole year. If I get skypepro, it will be half off for skypein so that will be $63/year. Can anyone tell me the disadvantages of this? I'm going to be getting the data plan no matter what, so I'm seeing myself saving a crap load of money on phone services with skype. Now I jsut need a phone that can do this. I think the HTC touch is the perfect phone but that's $500 and not 3g. I don't like spending more than $250 on a phone, but my limit will be $300 max.

So what I want you guys to help me is....:

Is this a good idea with skype and data plan? is 3g fast enough for skype?

What phone should I get? I'm thinking AT&T's data plan is the way to go, but I called them and he said it's only $19.99/month. This seems too good to be true. He also said it's 3g speed if my phone supports it. Am I missing something here?
I like the following in my phone:
-wifi
-atleast 1gb of data storage
-touch if possible
-media player music n vids
-windows mobile would b great, but as long as i can install apps like a gps software. I had the a1200, MING wit the Linuz EZX. That was fine for me, but I like windows mobile better cuz there's a lot of programs written for it. must be able to install skype
-3g data speed and ability to hook up to my laptop as a modem, or I can just get a data card if not.
-needs to look sexy, or at least not too muhc like a pda. the ming or htc touch, like that
-the price max is $300, but I think it's neg. if there's nothing else

If I get the $19.99 data plan and get a data card off ebay, will I still have 3G speed on my laptop?

I did more research:

will their problems affect me? this is written last year btw. could b old news

I didn't think T-Mobile had 3G.

ATT 3G isn't widespread, yet. Battery life is terrible especially in fringe areas.

SKYPE doesn't work well on cellular networks, 3G or not. Call quality is usually very poor and latency and echoing can be terrible at times. Voice always has the priority at the towers also (SKYPE travels via data).

I'm using Skypeout on Wifi, and thats the only time I've had it run smooth. My current fone sports EDGE only, but I've been told it's fine on 3G, havent tried it myself. I'd recommend getting the $8.85 skypeout service for unltd US/Canada calling first. Try it on 3G/Wifi on your fone and see if you like it, before shelling out 63bucks/year.

Regarding the phone. TyTN I believe would fit your needs.
However, it's not small/sleek/sexy looking fone.
If you need that, your going to have to wait for either the i-mate ultimate lineup, or the upcoming HTC Polaris.

I never said Tmobile has 3g. I'm really hoping this guy is wrong and full of crap, cuz he crapped on my brilliant idea! lol no offense, that was just a joke. anyone else have exp with skype on a 3g network?

btw it doesnt have to have a built in GPS. I have an external bluetooth GPS device.

Consider these 2 scenarios:

1. 3G Phone +3G Service =Skype - Very possible. I have Skype installed on my Blackjack and it works ....but, not all the time. AT&T will not sell just the data plan (the $19.99 one) without voice service. The Laptop DataConnect plan is $59.99 per month using data card.

2. 3G Data Card + AT&T Laptop DataConnect package + Windows Laptop + Skype - this works - I have tried it. Does not work with Mac unless you get the USB version of the 3G Data Card.

You're better off with option #2...$59.99 a month - but if all you wanted to do was essentially talk - then you will get plenty minutes for $59.99 a month - think about it!

i love the idea of #2, especially if I get a 3g router! everyone around me could have internet and my future wifi phone too! but it's not portable... I cant be having to pull my laptop out ot make phone calls. incoming calls too... If I need to answer a call, my laptop needs to be out and on to be able to even use this function. unless you know a very small laptop that is as portable as a phone and can be on for at least 8 hours

what do you mean "not all the time"?

i.e. Skype sometimes hangs for me on the Blackjack which is 3G enabled. Am not sure if it does the same on the PocketPC version of 3G - i.e. AT&T 8525.
