I went to the doctor today with a very painful boil on my left hip. It turned out to be a staph infection. It wasn't very large but it was hard and soo painful. I also have one on my right buttock (how embarassing..I have a sty on my eye also, by the way) but she didn't think it was necessary to drain that one. So she numbed the one on my hip and made an incision and drained out all of the infection. She left the incision open and packed it with gauze soaked in betadine if I remember correctly. She said she was leaving it open for drainage. She wants me to come back and let her re dress it and whatever 3 more times. I can't afford to pay 90 dollars a visit just to get a bandage replaced. Is it really crucial that she does it? I do not like her and she's soo rough.
It hurt pretty bad before I went but it's NOTHING compared to the pain I'm in now. It's constant and feels horrible..is that normal after this procedure? It's in a bad place too and I can barely walk. It's right in the crease that attaches your leg to your torso..I didn't know how else to describe the area.
Please give me tips and helpful information on how to care for it. I am also taking an antibiotic she prescribed me today. I plan to buy astringent, dressings, gauze, everything I need. All tips and information will be greatly appreciated.
