I purchased an unworking Wii from Wal-mart, and need to return it...?

But to find out that the Wii Wasn't working, I had to open the Wii Resort Game that came with it.
Now Wal-Mart is not taking it back because the game was opened.

Is it possible just to buy another Wii Resort game, and toss it in and act like it was never touched?

Anyone have any experience or knowledge about this?
