...registered on the road? It's a Toyota Highlander SUV 4WD V6 with a 3.3 l engine and 27,000 miles on the clock, which I bought new in May 2006 for about $31,000. My company is transferring me to the Seoul area (Bundang) for a 3 year expat assignment. I'll probably take a steep loss if I sell it now prior to my departure so I want to bring the car along (plus, the job requires lot's of domestic travel and I'll get a monthly vehicle allowance). The shipping company asks for $2,500 just to get it over the pond. However, somebody told me that the Korean authorities will impose high import duties because it is a Japanese made vehicle, even though it is a used car. Help from anybody who would share her/his experience in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.
