I-Phone on another carrier????

Folks, i know that this probably has been discussed elsewhere but does anyone know if the Iphone will be cleared to be used on any other carriers in the next year or so? I know that the technologies are different from ATT to Verizon, Sprint and so forth but just wondering?

I think that I have read some where that iPhone's contract with AT&T ends sometime soon. I assume that iPhone will then be avaible on another carrier. I'm not 100% sure though.
 
Available outside the US on other carriers, but not compatible here from what I have heard.

The ATT exclusive runs out in the 3rd quarter of 2010. Haven't heard if it has been renewed. Have to wait and see.
 
There's nothing definite, so take any rumors with a grain of salt, even if they seem accurate.

One thing I will say is that Qualcomm has a chipset in the works that supports advanced 3G on both EVDO (Sprint/Verizon) and HSPA (AT&T and the world). Not sure if it'll be around in time, but it could be Apple's key to a multi-carrier iPhone without having to build two separate models.
