but then I took my college exam on quadratic formulas, linear systems...ect...all the bullshit math nobody will ever use, unless you work in chemistry or something important, which I do not plan on doing.

Thank goodness for retakes, so I can try to prove how un-stupid I am.

I hate math.
 
People that tend to do bad in math, have a much better time with english and writing kind of courses. My girl was the same way, genius in every way, she just had a math learning disability. How do you do in those other areas?
 
Im good. I know I have no logical/spatial reasoning. Its just annoying, ya know. My oldest son has it all, excells in all the subjects. He really pisses me off. LOL.
 
don't feel bad, everyone has bad subjects. i get math and science very easily, but i hate history. i had to force myself to pay attention college, esp those 2-3hr lecture classes:(
 
I think there may be some truth to this. DG is an awesome writer. Her work just blows me away. You guys have only seen a sliver of what she has done here on wtf.com. She has more...lots more,and they are great!!
 
Good luck with that. I have absolutly NO intention of ever taking a college math class. I said I was done, and damnit, I'm done! I hope that you do better on the re-take. I know how hard that stuff is. That's what almost made me fail math last year. Damn math.
 
I'm learning calculus and re-taking algebra at the same time. How do I stand being such a pimp?

I absolutely despise math, but I excell at it. I excell in all school subjects... I got the best of all worlds.

Heh heh... not to brag or anything. I know what it's like to struggle with something (7th grade + trigonomety = badness).

If this works for you (and it just confuses me more, but I've had it told to me so many times it's stuck), try turning math in to something fun. For instance, if you liked basketball (I'm now taking one of my math teacher's words verbatim), you could pretend each number/variable/etc is a basket.

x represents how many baskets? x + 2 represents how many basketets? Etc, etc, etc.

There is self-education. I believe the true reason that people go to school is for others to give you direction on subjects that you are interested in and actually want to learn about. It is important for us to remember that all information is available and you don't necessarily need to go to school to find it. I still try to go because I believe that it makes learning less strenuous -though I don
