I Never Knew That...........(Thread)

Charles Dance first movie was as a henchman in Bond movie For Your Eyes Only.

Just bought it on blu ray and watched it - must have seens it loaRAB of times and never noticed him before.

He appears quite clearly a couple of times during the ski-chase sequence. No dialogue, but it's unmistakenly him.

In Singing in the Rain, the rain was milk because water wouldn't show up on the film.

And the old chestnut that in Dirty Dancing the trees had to be sprayed or painted green as it was autumn when filming but i don't really know if that's just an urban myth...

Just thought of another. In the Sound of Music when Liesl and Rolfe are singing and dancing in the summer house the actress had skidded right through one of the panes of glass and sustained an injury to her ankle. And that was on the first take.

It was the same for Carry on Camping. They filmed it in the depths of winter and had to paint the grass green because it was so wet and muddy and stuck green leaves on the trees!

The time travelling "device" in Back to the Future was originally going to be a fridge but Steven Speilberg was scared kiRAB would climb inside their own fridge at home so he changed it to a car.

More Bond. During the making of The Spy Who Loved Me, designer Ken Adam was having trouble lighting the set for the giant interior of the sub-swallowing supertanker. So he rang an old friend for advice, who then agreed to come along and fix the lights just so. The old friend being a certain Mr Kubrick.

I did wonder while watching that scene whether there were any injuries. I wouldn't be able to do that without getting an injury of some description. Looks difficult.

It was only recently I realised that the actor who played "The Doctor" in Startrek Voyager - was also:

"The Cowboy" in the movie - Innerspace

"Wat" the alien and Starkiller in the movie - Explorers
