I never heard Republicans complaining about the Federal Reserve when Bush or...

...Reagan was President..? ...Bush, and Gingrich before him worked EXTREMELY CLOSELY with the Federal Reserve and Greenspan their entire terms!
Greenspan basically did everything Bush and Gingrich asked and handed it to them on a silver platter, such as lowering the Prime Lending Rate to ZERO (???) which meant the US taxpayer was guaranteeing TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS in loans each year WHILE GETTING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR IT!!! Also INFLATIONARY since the treasury had a HUGE decreases in revenues from what was previously a huge source of income (previously earned by YOU AND ME, the taxpayer!)
Now suddenly we've got a Democrat in the White House, and they turn on the Fed and pretend it's this big bogeyman that caused all our problems.
Does any of this make ANY sense to anyone?

It makes plenty of sense. Bush and Gingrich are world government supporting neocons. Just as bush held back the protests against him from the conservatives, obama is holding back the protests against him from the liberals. We are supposed to believe all democrats support obama, and all republicans support bush.

It took the trillions of stolen money from the bailout to raise awareness - awareness that politicians can not afford to ignore.

Some politicians have always been against the FED - Ron Paul for 30+ years comes to mind.

You weren't listening.

Some of us (regardless of party affiliation) have been decrying the overreaching power of the Federal Reserve for years.

The Fed has a role to play but over-regulation in real estate and credit/finance were the larger causes. Bush did speak up a few times about the looming crisis but was ignored by Congress. However, as president, he could've done a heck of a lot more than just speaking.

I'm a Libertarian and have always been against our little central bank. With the exception of Ron Paul (who is really a Libertarian), the Republican Party doesn't really care about the Fed. Neither do Democrats. It was, in fact, a Democrat who was responsible for creating the damn thing.

It is mainly Ron Paul that has brought attention to the Fed recently. He has been preaching against the Fed since the 80's. People are finally listening. By the way over 100 democrats in congress cosponsor auditing the Fed.
