I'm currently reading The Iliad and have extracts of Cicero. I really don't have much going for myself in terms of the classics. I would like to read up on stories and legends as well as philosophy (I intend to read all of Plato and Aristotle at some point). But what am I missing?
Basically everything that would be expected of an undergraduate classicist. I'm less interested in the histories but the big guns like Livy. Also I forgot to mention literature: I'm happy with poets like Horace and Virgil.
Thanks for the 'Great Books' recommendation. I actually found that and obviously The Iliad is top of the list which is why I'm reading that now. My main concern is if any of the big names were missing off the list that I would miss them. I would rather not jump between histories and periods if I can help it. Great call though, thanks!
